Friday, March 6, 2009 Alabama banks' stocks tumble FridayBirmingham Business Journal - by Crystal Jarvis Staff View Larger Alabama banks' stocks were sent in a whirlwind Friday as negative news about the technology sector spurred more sell offs in the financial sector.
Birmingham-based Regions Financial Corp.s (NYSE:RF) share prices dwindled 10 percent to $2.79 in late afternoon trading, compared to its previous-day close at $3.10.
Colonial BancGroup Inc.s (NYSE:CNB) shares which have been hit hard within the past month closed at 30 cents on Friday. Its shares closed at the same price the day before. This week, the Montgomery banks shares hit a new low, compared to Mondays close at 39 cents.
CapitalSouth Bancorp.s shares also remained at 36 cents on Friday. However, its shares declined 29 percent this week, compared to Mondays close at 51 cents.
On a positive note, Superior Bancorp.s (Nasdaq: SUPR) shares climbed 0.5 percent, or 1 cent, Friday to $1.91, compared to $1.90 the day before.
